College athletes are constantly working hard at sports and academics. Despite the fact that these students are given the amazing opportunity to play the sport that they love, the level of determination and work ethic poses economic problems for student-athletes all over the country. Financial relief for the individuals and their families, reduction of the need for additional employment, and less corruption within the NCAA are just some of the benefits of compensating athletes for their commitment and time. This topic will be easy to argue about as in recent months, the debate has become bigger than ever, with the introduction of paying these students based on name, image, and likeness. On top of current-event-status, my brother is a division one lacrosse player at Mercer University, so this argument is very relevant within my family. I think that this topic is better than others, because it is one that is paving the future of college sports as we know it. Should their be an increase in pay for teachers, first responders, and active military members? I believe that teachers, first responders, and members of the military are underpaid considering their efforts. Good teachers make differences in our lives, they teach us not only how to read and write, but also the social skills that we will need for the rest of our lives. First responders constantly look out for us and keep us safe no matter what. Last but not least, our military protects us by putting their lives on the line, day after day. Even after all of their efforts, these people are paid significantly less than other members of society that do not make the same differences. The benefits of an increase in pay for these professions would be increased incentive to serve communities, and better use of tax-payer dollars. I feel like this topic will be easy to argue as my mom is a first-grade teacher, and my both of my grandfathers served in the military. I also feel as though many people would support this decision. This topic may be better than others, as it supports the difference-makers in society.
